Is SendCutSend's carbon fiber epoxy UV resistant?

Hello,

I was looking to have some upper gauge panels made from carbon fiber through SendCutSend!

Is the epoxy used for forming the carbon sheets UV resistant, or will I need to treat it to keep from yellowing/cracking in the Georgia sun?

Thank you~

Hi! Unfortunately, we do not recommend that you use carbon fiber for applications that are going to be in direct sunlight for long periods (many months/years). All epoxy tends to yellow with prolonged UV exposure. Our matte finish carbon has a minimal amount of exposed epoxy, so it performs better than gloss epoxy from the 2000’s…but it’s still best to keep it out of direct sunlight for best cosmetic appearance over many years.

  • For a car part, like an intake scoop, or spoiler endplates, it would work great if the car is garaged.

  • If you were going to make a carbon fiber umbrella for your deck (lol), you might have some issues after a couple years
